On August 29, 2025, the first round of the CAGC Cultural Golf Event was successfully concluded at Peach Garden Golf Club in Foshan.

 

The event, themed “Promoting the Spirit of St Andrews and Preserving Golf’s History and Culture,” not only provided a platform for like-minded golf enthusiasts to exchange skills and ideas on the green, but also marked the beginning of a new chapter in using golf as a bridge to facilitate precise China-UK trade and economic collaboration.

Mr. Trevor Lewis, Director of Trade and Investment for Southern China at DBT UK, Delivers Speech

Mr. Trevor Lewis extended his warm congratulations on the establishment of CAGC and expressed his sincere anticipation for the club to play an increasingly significant role in promoting China-UK cultural exchange and trade cooperation.

He emphasized that golf is not only a sport but also embodies core values such as integrity, respect, friendship, and self-discipline. With its mission to promote the spirit and etiquette of golf, CAGC aligns closely with the values pursued by the international community. He particularly highlighted the outstanding performance of Chinese golfer Li Haotong at the UK Open and expressed hope that CAGC will inspire more young Chinese golfers to step onto the international stage.

As a bridge for China-UK cooperation, CAGC is expected to serve as an important platform for deepening bilateral trade and investment. Mr. Lewis noted that sports have a unique power to unite people and build trust, and he pledged strong support for CAGC’s future efforts to promote deeper exchange and collaboration between China and the UK in culture, business, and golf.

Mr. Arthur Yeo Delivers Speech at the CAGC First Round Cultural Event and Opening Dinner

With the mission of “preserving golf culture, promoting the spirit of St Andrews, and fostering etiquette among amateur golfers,” CAGC is dedicated to creating a shared home for amateur golf enthusiasts across China, where members can exchange ideas and grow together. The club actively promotes cultural exchange between Chinese and international golfers, strengthens talent development, and fosters industry collaboration, serving as a bridge connecting China’s amateur golf scene with the world.

In his speech, CAGC Chairman Mr. Arthur Yeo stated:

"Chinese golf is standing at a new starting point. We must not only inherit past experiences and wisdom but also look to the future, ensuring that the voices of Chinese amateur golfers resonate more strongly on the international stage."

Looking ahead, CAGC will continue to advocate the core values of golf—integrity, etiquette, self-discipline, and respect—to promote the sustainable and healthy development of golf in China.

Mr. Raymond Tung, Secretary-General of CAGC, Delivers Lecture: “The Legend of St Andrews”

Through rich historical details and rare images, Mr. Raymond vividly presented the 600-year development of golf, tracing its journey from its Scottish origins to its global prominence. He highlighted the deep historical heritage and spiritual essence of the sport—from royal bans to royal recognition, from exclusivity for the nobility to popular adoption, from preserving traditions to embracing technological innovation. Golf embodies a century-long spirit of both preservation and innovation.
 
This lecture was not only a historical review but also a profound interpretation of golf culture, offering modern golf enthusiasts invaluable spiritual guidance and inspiration.
